Content is King!

I’m sure you must have heard or read this term plenty of times.

The phrase was introduced by the media magnate Sumner Redstone. It became famous when Bill Gates used it in 1996 in one of his articles.

When it comes to attracting more and more visitors to your website, content is most definitely King. The best sites strive to produce high quality, unique, engaging, and relevant content consistently.

Easier said than done, right ?

To create high quality posts, not only do you need to be passionate about what you are writing, but you also have to figure out how you can produce something of value.

With the ever-increasing use of various blogging platforms, more than 5 million blog posts are being published each day. On WordPress alone, 17 posts are published each day around the world.

Unfortunately, most of them go unread.

So what are those magical ingredients, which can make your blog stand out?

In this post, I’ll give you some tips that will help you create fantastic marketable content.

1. Share Your Story

Modern consumers need more than just data. The more promotional lines they come across in your post, the sooner they may stop reading it.

If you haven’t mastered the skill of storytelling up till now, it should be in your to-do list for 2020.

People love stories. It’s human nature to get drawn in if something relatable. It ties emotion into your messages, which in turn renders your message unforgettable.

It’s a good idea to prioritize the inclusion of the following elements when writing posts about your brand, products, or services.

  • Narrate the idea behind your brand and how it came into existence.
  • Show you care about your consumers by focusing on their stories as they relate to your brand or product.
  • You can also include how a particular product came about.
  • Tell the audience who the people are behind your brand (employee stories).

When you publish a story based blog or article on your website, it will help you get closer to your readers. It will develop a bond between you and them, and they will surely come back for more.

2. Use of Video Content

With the increasing use of social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & YouTube, there is exponential growth in the use of visuals.

It’s a great idea to include videos with text in your blog posts. Authority sites such as wpcrafter and ahrefs  are doing it, and the results have been tremendous.

To create engaging videos, you have to nail the first thirty seconds to get viewers hooked. No one likes long and boring intros. You must sound upbeat and excited to keep your viewers engaged.

Also, don’t forget to optimize your videos for YouTube – It’s more popular than Facebook and Instagram.

3. Use Relevant, High-Quality Images

I’m one of those people who prefers going through blog posts with quality photos or images.

Posts that include images tend to receive 94% more views. But I understand it can be time-consuming to find relevant images for your content. Thankfully, various free photo websites make the job easier.

And in case you are not happy with how an image looks, there are many tools you can use to enhance a photo.

Also, I strongly recommend creating infographics that tell a story. Infographics are a proven way of bringing in more traffic to your website because they help generate backlinks.

4. Write for a Generic Audience

If your content is not easily understood, you are likely to lose a lot of online visitors,

You should try to write in a way that is easy to understand for the majority of online readers. You might be able to create attractive headlines that generate clicks, but, if your content is not easily understood, your bounce rate will increase , which is not good for SEO.

The best SEO experts recommend that you should avoid writing more than three sentences in a single paragraph.

According to expert Brian Dean, you should stick to one to two lines per paragraph, and the font size should be at least 15 px.

Medium.com uses a 21px font, which makes their blog posts quite easy to read.

5. Use Long-Tail Keywords

For me, optimizing your content around long-tail keywords is a better way to connect with your visitors.

The online world is slowly transforming into screen-less searches. Gartner predicted that by 2020, 30% of online searches would be initiated by voice.

People are highly focused on what they want and that is where long-tail keywords come in. They are more specific and longer keyword phrases being searched by users online.

The plus point is that the competition for long-tail keywords is not that great, so they are easier to rank for on search engines. Let’s understand this with an example.

You want to write a blog post that ranks for “high heels.”

Unfortunately, it would be tough to rank for this keyword because the competition is too great. So, you try and optimize your post around long-tail keywords. Some examples could be:

  • Black High Heels – You will be targeting consumers who are specifically searching for high heels in black color
  • How to Walk in High Heels
  • Platform High Heels
